Rev. Charles and Cheryl Ferry serve on behalf of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) throughout Asia and are based in Chiayi, Taiwan. As the Asia Regional Director, Charles is responsible for LCMS work, personnel and relationships in 20 countries. He unites local church leaders and LCMS resources to strengthen partner churches through theological education, translation and mercy projects. In addition, Charles provides Word & Sacrament ministry and pastoral care to geographically separated Lutherans.

Charles was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and his home congregation is Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. He has a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University Wisconsin, Mequon, Wis., and received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 2008. Before serving in Asia, he was the sole pastor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield, Mich. (2008-2013). Charles has served as an Air Force chaplain since 2011. In his free time, Charles enjoys reading, working on computers, playing Frisbee and cheering on the Green Bay Packers football team.

Cheryl was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Concordia University, Nebraska, Seward, Neb., which she uses to homeschool their children. Cheryl enjoys cross-stitching, playing games and Frisbee, and taking daily walks in the neighborhood. Charles and Cheryl have six beautiful children – Caleb, Caitlin, Carissa, Cassandra, Chloe and Charlotte - with whom they love spending time.

Prayers
Pray for Charles and Cheryl as they serve in Asia. Pray for their family as they adjust to living in Taiwan. Pray they are used daily to lovingly minister to the local people with whom they serve and live. Pray specifically that Charles is spiritually guided as he strives to teach, serve and lead. Let us give thanks that the Ferry family is serving in this part of the world.

Through the creation of the LCMS’ Play! café, a café and kids’ play space hybrid, J.P. and Aimee reach out to young, urban, middle-class families. They also partner with universities to provide leadership training and LCMS GEO personnel who serve by teaching English.
